Is anybody bothered by the fact that Anna Nardini, April's mom, is
played by Sherilyn Fenn, who already played Sasha, i.e. Jess's father's
girlfriend, in episode "Here Come the Son" (#3.21)?

In that episode, she wore her hair short and blond, but I certainly like
her better in her natural color (like I remembered her from Twin Peaks,
the only show for which she's known here in Italy).

Not me. Doublecasting (ie: casting a person in multiple parts in the
same production) has been done for thousands of years, literally.

IMO Fenn is rising to the challenge of making Anna as different a
character from Sasha as she can within the spectrum of Lorelai-types
that both Anna and Sasha belong to. Some of that may be aesthetic
choices dictated by either Amy in the writing and other parts of it
may be common sense (ie: Fenn returning to her natural hair color for
Anna), but to me Anna is a very different character from Sasha. More
focused, more grounded, less shrill (the only thing I didn't like
about Sasha), so very not from Brooklyn. Fenn has had a hard time
disguising her Noo Yawk accent in most of the stuff that she does, but
I think she's finally starting to get the hang of it.

Maybe it's because Amy apparently promised to write Fenn another part
in the show after the Jess spin-off crashed before takeoff, but Fenn
looks like she did her homework in constructing an Anna who is very
warm and Lorelai-like (minus the caffeine) without ripping Graham's
work off. I suspect that Fenn may be a longtime fan of the show and
has been keeping up with it all along.

No problem at all. She is visually and temperamentally presented as a
different character. The hair alone is a big change. As Sasha she had the
big scarf on her head that made me think she was a chemo patient.

As presented, I also thought she was a better match for Luke - reasonable,
not high maintenance, not asking for help all the time (fix the house, free
meals, lend me $, etc). In the end perhaps she is too dull for him, but I
think Luke is too good for Lorelai in many ways.

I didn't even remember she's played a part on GG before. I was just
hapy to see Serilyn Fenn again. I loved her in Twin Peaks (I figure she
was the sexiest woman on earth at the time) and later on Rude Awakening
(playing a sarcastic alcoholic).
