CA was on The Daily Show last night. Very smart and funny as always. Got
me thinking they should lobby to have her do a cameo on GG to help re-focus
Rory. Maybe she could speak at "Yale" or they could even have her in one of
those occasional dream sequences they do - even if Rory was just watching
her on a TV monitor so they could shoot remotely.

Amy Sherman-Palladino has said in interviews that she has flat-out begged
Amanpour to do a guest spot, to no avail.

I smell a good opportunity for Gg fans to mount a letter-writing
campaign directly to CA.

Here is a thought: Christiane Amanpour works at CNN (a Time Warner
company.)
why not some cross promotion? Have her appear on Gilmore Girls (on the
WB, A Time Warner company).

Just like Time Warner would jump at the idea to have their muscial acts
on
Charmed why wouldn't Time Warner jump at the chance to have one of
their
reporters appear on Gilmore Girls?

A hint for the publicity department: IT'S CALLED PUBLICITY AND CROSS
PROMOTION.

Of course TPTB at Time/Warner could go one step forward, GIVE AB a
story to
do on CNN TO USE ON GILMORE GIRLS.

Oh, here's a thought: Christiane Amanpour is an *employee* of Time
Warner, not an *indentured servant.* She's contracted to do what she
does best (and better than anyone else in the world at the moment):
report the news.

Just speculating here, but I'm betting that Amanpour is probably
flattered by the show's adoration of her (and might even like the show
regardless of the namecheck), but thinks that maybe trading on her
celebrity to do an acting gig would be a distraction from her actual
work.

OTOH, does anyone happen to remember if CA happened to do a guest shot
on (the WB-produced) Murphy Brown? I know it was the hip thing for
real journos to do gratuitous cameos on that show when it was still
watchable, and Amanpour had already made her name by then. Maybe if
she did, she decided never again.

You're under the mistaken assumption that they haven't tried to get
Christiane Amanpour on the show. Amy *has,* in *fact,* tried.
Amanpour has declined. That's not even a snub -- that's just Amanpour
choosing to stick to her own line of work.

As if the Publicity/Marketing department of The WB and/or WB Studios
isn't salivating at the thought of CA guesting on the show. The
simple fact of the matter is, there's not a damn thing the marketers
at the company can do until/unless Amanpour decides to do the show.

Amanpour is a world-class journalist, probably *the* top journalist in
the world, print, TV or otherwise. While I'm sure TW, WB studios and
The WB would probably *love* to have the synergy-thang going on, the
simple fact of the matter is that they can't *make* a CA do a guest
appearance on a fictional TV show if she doesn't want to any more than
they could arrange for Lauren Graham and Matthew Perry to get married.

This interview with ASP

suggests that Rory's career trajectory might make the possibility of a
CNN-internship to be unlikely. The possible spoiler isn't much more
clear than that, either.

I believe you are thinking of Connie Chung's mock appearance the on "TV
or not TV" episode of Murphy Brown where the issue of news reporters
making celebrity appearances was a topic.

They had a few other episodes with real "reporters." One that comes to mind
is the baby shower episode, although I forget which female anchors attended.

The preview suggests that next week this will all become quite clear.
