I happened to catch the King of Queens today and was surprised to see the actor
who played Headmaster Charleston playing Doug's father. I have to say it was a
bit strange to see the often tough and rigid Headmaster Charleston on a comedy
show.

As GG shifts its attention away from Chilton and onto Yale, I, for one, will
miss Headmaster Charleston. Either love him or hate him, he was an unique
character. Most memorable moments were the speech he gave to Lorelai after Rory
miss the Shakespeare test after getting hit by a deer (season 1); another was
what he said to Richard after he threw a fit because Rory didn't win the
Chilton business contest (season 2); and the speech he gave to both Rory and
Paris after the two have gotten into a fight at student council (this season).
Even if you happen to dislike what he represents, i.e. uppity and snobbery, you
have to admit what he said made a lot of sense, mostly anyway.
I hope the writers will find a way to bring back Headmaster Charleston, but I
sure hope they don't bring him back by making him get a new job as a dean at
Yale or something.

Dakin Matthews is a *wonderful* comedic actor.

http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0559977/

He's been on The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Dharma & Greg, Ally McBeal, Coach,
Herman's Head (he was HILARIOUS on this show!), Dear John, My Two Dads,
Who's The Boss and Newhart, and countless other shows as well. ISTR him
playing characters with mostly a dry and/or witty sense of humor on the
shows I mentioned.

Don't worry, he will not get a job at Yale, but we could see him this season
because Rory and Paris are Chilton alumni, and Headmaster Charleston could
force the girls to do an event at Chilton. We'll just have to wait and see.

My favorite HC Charleston moments are in my favorite episode of the
show, "Like Mother, Like Daughter." He totally outmaneuvers Lorelai in
one scene, trapping her into joining the Chilton Boosters. Later in
the ep, Rory goes ballistic on him after the Puffs initiation, and he
actually backs down, seeing he was wrong. I think part of it was just
the shock of seeing Rory stand up to him, but it was also neat to see
Rory change his mind when her mother couldn't.

I agree, cause that would like what they did on "Boy Meets World" with MR.
Feeney, where he was the teacher and then he suddenly becomes their principal
when they go to high school.

Actually, a area where a teacher becomes principal isn't all bad. It just
meant that Mr. Feeney got a promotion. As for Headmaster Charleston, we
will not see him around unless it is official Chilton business that he wants
his best two alumni (Paris and Rory) to get involved in, or visiting Richard
and Emily.

The weird part with Mr. Feeney was that he was the main characters'
teacher in all their elementary grades, and then when they entered high
school he became the high school principal. When they graduated he
retired and became a student at the same university his former students
were attending, and then became a professor at that same university,
so they were right back in his classes again.

And then he ends up as one of their professors at Pennbrook University.
At least on "Boy Meets World" the writers made fun of themselves when
they did things like that. I remember a conversation in which Shawn and
Cory were talking about how strange it was that they had Mr. Feeney as
a teacher every year that they were in school.

Another of my favorite scenes happened after the actress who played the
younger sister, Morgan, left the show. Morgan didn't appear at all for
a whole season and then she was played by a different (older) actress.
Her first line when she came downstairs in her first scene was, "Wow,
that's the longest I've *ever* stayed in my room!"

LOL!! That's hilarious!!!! You know, Think I remember that though, when it
kinda got this point whre you're going "Where is Morgan?"
I liked the younger morgan the best though. She was really funny. Like when she
thought that she killed Santa Claus!
