What Should I Watch if I Loved 'Gilmore Girls'?
-----------------------------------------------
Are you looking for your next great TV love? (Or your next
great show divorce?) Watching is here to help. Send in a
question to ***@nytimes.com. The below questions have
been lightly edited.

Dear Watching,

I didn't watch "Gilmore Girls" when it was still airing,
but I first watched it maybe two years ago. I have since
watched the entire series three times and I have a hard
time feeling like I'm in the mood to watch anything else.
I'm desperately in need of something else to watch that's
similar to "Gilmore Girls." And before you suggest either
"Bunheads" or "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," I have watched
and love both of those too.

Some of the other shows I love and rewatch frequently
include "The Mindy Project," "The Office" and "New Girl."

Do you have any suggestions for something else lighthearted,
kind of sappy, and full of quirky characters and fast-talking
women?

Megan

You should watch "Sports Night," Aaron Sorkin's half-hour
comedy set behind the scenes at a "SportsCenter"-esque show.
If you like the fast dialogue of "GG" and want something
earnest, I think this is right up your alley. They're of the
same era, too; "Sports Night" debuted in 1998, so it has
those same baggy suits and terrible dress pants on women. And
as with "GG," not every aspect has aged well. (You can buy
"Sports Night" on Amazon or iTunes.)

If you want something more strictly teen, you might like
"Privileged," which aired just one scanty season starting in
2008. It's about a smart young woman who becomes a tutor to
two indifferent rich teen girls who might as well go to Chilton.
(Stream "Privileged" on CW Seed.) If you want something more
sardonic, the first several seasons of MTV's "Awkward." fit the
bill and feature a close but complicated mother-daughter
relationship. (That's available to stream on Hulu.)

I bet you will also like "Being Erica," a Canadian import about
a woman who gets to go back in time and fix all the bad
decisions she's made. It has that "GG" blend of loopy exuberance
and authentic family strife - definitely on the weepier side of
the spectrum, but romantic and encouraging, too. (You can stream
"Being Erica" on Hulu or Amazon Prime.)

How about 2 Broke Girls? There is definitely some fast banter, although
it's not exactly the kind of show you want young children to watch.
There are also some romantic entanglements for the two leads. (Note:
I've never seen an episode of Gilmore Girls so this could be way off....)

"2 Broke Girls is" pure sitcom (then again, so is "New Girl" that the
original letter writer mentioned), but "Gilmore Girls" is more of a
drama-with-funny-bits.

Although old now, perhaps another show to add to the list would be "Ed"
... it's sort of 'Gilmore Boys', and stars actor who more recently
plays The Flash's mentor / nemesis. :-)
